Common respiratory complaints include asthma, bronchitis, acute and chronic sinusitis, hayfever, acute upper respiratory infections including tonsillitis, influenza and the common cold.
These complaints have an allergic or infective cause, and many patients seek herbal, naturopathic or traditional Chinese treatments to avoid the long-term or recurrent use of pharmaceutical preparations. Chronic recurrent respiratory infections are common in our community. For example, parents of young children are often plagued by recurrent respiratory infections when their children start crèche or school. Other patients can experience chronic recurrent infections like tonsillitis, and some patients may be immune-suppressed, for example following chemotherapy. Individuals with these complaints often respond well to herbal and nutritional treatments to reduce the incidence, duration and severity of these conditions.
